street

Stephen Eastaugh, The corner of Sublime and Slushy Streets, Casey, 2000

There are very few roads in Antarctica therefore very few street names but I like the idea of naming two streets Sublime street and Slushy street. On Australian Antarctic stations a Slushy is the kitchen hand, of course it also means wet snow. At the corner of Slushy and Sublime streets two extreme concepts cross. The mundane, messy but functinal job of dishwasher meets the grand elevating feeling of Antarctic awesome landscape.
