In making the animation, Self-contained cartography, I explored how others have responded to Antarctica, and combined their material to suggests a third view to extend my own resonse.
Combining details from pictures by Stephen Eastaugh with sounds of John Hizzard, an unexpected metaphor emerges: Man as the extension of his own contraption, expressing disorientation. Reflecting back Stephen’s playfulness with words, I turn a feeling into an object.
