Ice shelfs are being studied because they are likely to be particularly sensitive to global warming. To better understand the stability of the world’s ice shelfs our attention is now focused on the seabed underneath them, or in the areas previously covered. We are looking for evidence of previous ice shelf advance or retreat preserved as fossils in seabed sediments.
