Algae is the ancient ancestor of Seagrass. Like Whale, Seagrass began life in the ocean and then came to live on land. It later returned to be the seagrass along our shorelines that we see today. Seagrass are nurseries for many kinds of baby Fish and crustaceas cousins of Krill. Seagrass are food for Turtles and Dugons. Seagrass roots protect our fragile shores from erosion caused by wave action during storms. Most importantly, seagrass sequester (pull down) more C02 from our atmosphere than all the forests on land combined.
