Farrah Sa’adulla sends her music response to ‘Energies’, the animation compilation of Antarctic scientific data and subjective responses to the data.
Last Wednesday when I told my dance teacher, Barbara Cuckson, the idea that popped into my head during her class that night, of projecting the animation onto women’s backs as they walk, her first thought for a theme, before seeing the animation, was ‘breath’. No surprise really, as that’s the rhythmic energy that drives her own dance, inspired by Gertrud Bodenwieser. And the same rhythm I used to animate the scientific data and the dance responses. I simply traced the natural rhythm of human breath to bring life to the data.
